hmmm, pure guess - Ramon Aviles? He's 5'9" IF that had bit roles in 1980/81 (not wearing #8), he was traded away in 1982. It doesn't look like Pat Corrales who also wore #8 as a coach/manager. Besides it seems like a player. Thanks for the mystery.

Getty Images Confirmation on Pat Corrales, although the label for the picture doesn't make much sense saying he is going out to argue a call as he shakes Rose's hand. It looks like he is congratulating Rose in a CG Carlton win on July 4, 1982 in Shea Stadium to me (after Carlton gives up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th of the 9-7 win). Teams combine for 6 errors... and Carlton goes on to win the Cy Young.
