Happy Saturday! Been a while since we “talked” on the weekend, but then, it’s not every day that we get to celebrate a Bo Jackson milestone.
On September 14, 1986, the Royals’ wunderkind connected on his first home run, taking Mike Moore of the Mariners deep to lead off the fourth inning.
And by “deep,” we’re talking 475 feet worth of depth — a new Royals Stadium record.
Donruss noticed the feat and found a spot (at #43) to celebrate the feat n their year-end Highlights set:
Donruss and Topps also included Jackson in their “The Rookies” and Traded sets, respectively, later in the year. Turns out, the two companies took a remarkably similar view of the young phenom.
Have a great weekend, and keep your eyes open for September heroics — ‘tis the season, after all! (Just ask Aaron Judge.)
