I loved Charlie Hough and actually (spoiler alert) already had him lined up as my pick for tomorrow, but before I hit pause on Charlie, I'll just mention that he always looked over 50 years old to me, at least when I was a young kid rooting for the Rangers. Must've been all the cigarettes he smoked between innings, lol... but thanks for the write-up on him! What a pleasant surprise.
As for my new uniform themed pic, this card isn't my favorite of his, and his time in Texas was an absolute embarrassment, but I have to go with Jose Canseco's 1994 Fun Pack #209 because it illustrates the nadir of his tenure there, when a ball bounced off his head for a homerun in Kansas City. I watched that game live and think I still have a replay of that moment on a VHS cassette somewhere (we always kept them handy to record whatever was on TV). In any case, it may be an ugly card, but it was an ugly/embarrassing moment in baseball history, and not long after - at least in little boy years - I remember him blowing out his elbow while pitching against the Red Sox... what a waste... at least we have the stories.
Seemed like guys in all walks of life — not just baseball — almost wanted to look old before their time in generations past. Take a gander at some “school administrator” pages in old yearbooks sometime. Everyone was 50 every year. lol
And, yes, Jose was an adventure from start to finish. Even now, on occasion.
Haha, oh yea, very true! I pull up pics from the past to play 'guess how old this guy is' quite often with my wife and she is always surprised when some 20-something looks 50, or even 60... it's crazy!

For sure
It ended up not being a good signing, but Dan Uggla sure looked good in a Braves uni. His 2011 Topps card was sharp:

Definitely. I got some mileage out of Uggla in my fantasy lineups for a few years. :)
I'm gonna go with 2017 Topps Heritage Marlins Ichiro in the 1968 design.

Looks so wrong. lol
