In my attempt to collect every Julio Franco card I found the 1992 Topps Kid set. Cartoony fronts with little comics on the back. I was "too cool" for the Kids set by 1992, but I would have been all over two or three years earlier (and now). It's pretty neat. I miss hearing "stopper," and it actually has another meaning. Besides being a reliever who stops a rally, a "stopper" is also a starter who stops a losing streak. As a Reds fan in the early-to-mid 1980s, I was well acquainted with that second version (which may actually be primary). Mario Soto posted a win several times directly on the heels of multiple team losses.
