I remember a day, playing in front of the tv while the Braves were on, TBS 1987. A player hit a homerun, an amazing thing, but then in the following inning he robbed a homerun. I remember jumping up and exclaiming, "He's my favorite player!" His name was Dion James. I dutifully collected his cards. Even when he went to the Indians, I dragged his cards from my commons into my special folder.

Then one day, when I was looking through my 1986 Topps I found an earlier Dion James. I thought that since I had already allowed an Indians card into my Braves (and Ricky Henderson) folder, that I should get Dion's earlier cards as well. So then I began hunting down all of his cards.

The Topps checklist didn't have a Dion rookie card in 1984, but Fleer and Donruss did. Back then, the only way to see a common card was to pull it out of box, since only the stars got their cards photographed. So pulling out the '84 Donruss card was memorable. I remember the smell of the card shop, I remember the layout, everything about the scene is crystal clear. It isn't too special, but I was excited to spend .30 cents on it and still own it: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41c8soZTfFL.__AC_SX300_SY300_QL70_FMwebp_.jpg
